Here is an entry for Ferdinand (why do I have Friedrick?): Fred Koenig was the fifth child and first son of Egidi Koenig and was born in Crimea. Sept 6, 1877. Fred married Anna Volk December 28, 1900. Anna was born in Alsace, South Russia June 7, 1882 and died December 30, 1962. Fred died January 3, 1966. Fred Koenig and his wife Anna were a wonderful couple. Their home was well cared for and always kept neat and orderly, both inside and outside the buildings. they were blessed with many friends and took part in Church, civic and social activities. When they left the farm, they retired to Rugby, but later they went to Dickinson, North Dakota to make their home at a nursing home conducted by the Benedictine sisters from Bismarck. Anna died first. Without her, Fred was lost, so finally he was transferred to Mattern Nursing Home in Strasburg, North Dakota where he remained until he died. Both are buried in the Little Flower Cemetery in Rugby, North Dakota. Fred was fond of children and they loved him. In the early 1900£s the Bosch home was only a short distance from Fred and Anna£s. When the grain was tall near the private road where we traveled, it was hard for her busy mother to find her as she searched for the wanderer.ø At Sister Clarence£s brother£s wedding in 1914 Fred even danced with Sister. She was seven years old at the time. The whole family was musical and all of them were excellent singers. Margaret was also fond of whistling while she worked. In those days there were no radios, so gifted folks often sang or whistled to give vent to joyful emotions.ø
