Notes for Theresa Ann HAMAN


Theresa Ann Haman, 58, Minot, died unexpectedly Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2007, in a
Bismarck hospital.Theresa was born Oct. 24, 1948, in Rugby, ND, to John M.
and Doris A. (Vatsvog) Haman. She attended grade and high school in Towner,
graduating Salutatorian of her senior class.She went on to earn a
bachelorís degree in Elementary Education from Minot State College. While
teaching grade school at Goodrich and Ray, ND, Theresa could see a lapse in
services for children with ìSpecial Abilities". She pioneered Learning
Disabilities programs in North Dakota, earning her master’s degree in
Learning Disabilities from the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks. She
continued in Special Education, obtaining her doctorate degree in Teacher
Education from the University of North Dakota. She was the Learning
Disabilities Coordinator in Devils Lake and many surrounding schools, then
worked at Minot State University as Coordinator of Special Services.
Theresaís passions in life included involvement with her nieces and nephews
and collecting various clowns. She had a beautiful singing voice, singing in
choirs throughout her school years – especially enjoying gospel music. 
Theresa loved to cook, and in fact, she took sabbaticals from work to be a
chef at many restaurants. In 1988, Theresa took a leave of absence from her
job to become full-time caregiver for her parents in their declining years.
She took an early retirement because of health issues. In 2000, Theresa
underwent a kidney transplant. The kidney was given to her by a special niece
and Godchild, Michele Bitz.Theresa was instrumental in guiding nieces and
nephews in their educational and spiritual journeys. She took a genuine
interest in othersí lives, impacting them greatly. Her Godchildren had a
special place in her heart.Her biggest joys in life were preparing feasts
for family and other family-oriented gatherings. Her warm smile and giving
nature will be missed by all.She was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic
Church, Minot.Survivors: Brothers and sisters, Jerome (Mary Ann) Haman, of
Kent, WA, Monica (Jim) Hoynes, Bismarck, ND, Debbie (Ken) Schmidt, Minot,
Sandra Haman, Bismarck, John M. Jr. (Annette) Haman, Parker, CO, Lisa (Tom)
Wilson, Minot, Shari (Brian) Olson, Minot, Jay (Cassandra) Haman, Kerrville,
TX; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.
Theresa was preceded in death by her parents, John M. ìJohnnieî and Doris
Haman.Mass of Christian Burial: Saturday, March 3, 2007, at 11 a.m. at Our
Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Minot.
