Meier, 72, Bismarck, ND, died August 27, 2018, at Sanford Health, Bismarck, after a short bout with lung cance Services will be held at 11:30 am Tuesday, September 4, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck, with Rev. Craig A. Schweitzer officiating. Burial will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan. Family will greet visitors starting at 10:30 am Tuesday at Parkway Funeral Service. Don was born on March 3, 1946, the son of Frank and Christine Meier in Linton, ND. He was raised on the family farm at Venturia near Zeeland, ND. Don graduated from Zeeland High School in 1964 and went on to attend college at Wahpeton, ND, where he graduated with a degree in civil engineering. After a stint in the army, where he served in Vietnam, he went on to make his living designing and building grain elevators until his retirement. He was proud that he had built elevators in 28 states. Don married Cheryl Stebner on February 12, 1994, and together they resided in Bismarck. Don is survived by his wife, Cheryl; son, Neil (Becky) Meier; daughter, Melissa (Paul) Moritz; stepson, Mike (Janet) Stebner; stepdaughter, Terri Tufte; nine grandchildren, Sabrina, Cole, Lukas, Whitney, Kylee, Aubree, Braxton, D.J., and Parker; brothers, Robert (Irene), and Steve (Sue); brother-in-law, Dennis (Carol) Bollinger; sister, Anna (Ray) Welder; step-brothers, Gary (Connie) Pieske and Richard (Marlys) Pieske; step-sisters, Marlene Pieske, Connie Pieske, and Linda Kuhn; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Rodney; sister, Mary Bollinger; and three step-brothers, Dennis and Donald Pieske and Jim Kuhn.
