Notes for Thadius "Ted" L SCHWEITZER


I think the following is Ted's wife:
Timber Lake - Mass of Christian Burial for Vera Schweitzer, 83, of Timber Lake
will be at 10 a.m. MDT, Monday, July 7, 2008, at the Holy Cross Catholic
Church in Timber Lake. 
Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Glencross, under the
direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. 
Visitation will start at 5:30 p.m. MDT, Sunday at the church, with a family
service at 7 p.m. MDT. 
Mrs. Schweitzer passed away July 2, 2008, at St. Luke's Hospital in Aberdeen. 
Vera Alvina Korb was born July 1, 1925, in Isabel, S.D., to Herman and Amelia
(Bachman) Korb and grew up on a farm. She graduated from Isabel High School
and worked in Timber Lake at the WPA office. 
On Nov. 12, 1945, she married Ted Schweitzer at the Holy Cross Catholic Church
in Timber Lake. Ted and Vera lived on the family farm near Glencross. 
Her husband, Ted, was the Dewey County Sheriff and Vera was the deputy
sheriff, secretary and jailer. She was the civil defense director from 1993 to
2007. She also worked at the Timber Lake Topic until her death. 
In her spare time, Vera worked many years as a waitress and bartender at
Pepsi's Lucky Seven Bar and the Dakota Landmark. Vera was a member of the Holy
Cross Catholic Church, Parish Council, Altar Society, coordinator of Prayer
Blanket Ministry and a lifetime member of the Howdy House Lodge. 
Vera is survived by seven sons: Richard of Aberdeen, Robert of Gillette, Wyo.,
Ted (Shirley) of Glencross, Kenneth (Beth) of Gillette, Gary (Teresa) of
Brandon, S.D., James of Denver, Colo., Lowell (Sheryl) of Gillette, and Alan
(Suzie) of Shelbyville, Ind., three daughters: Janice Backes, of Denver,
Dorothy Pogue of Sioux Falls, and Annette (Jacque) Osborn of Aberdeen, also 26
grand-children and 12 great-grandchildren. 
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ted, one son, Dennis,
one brother, John Korb and an infant brother and sister.
