Notes for Sylvester John USSELMAN


He came to America via Canada in 1885 at the age of 15.  His parents deceased
and he was brought to America by his half-sister Mariann Wisebeck.  This
information is from Helen Schumacker per Kathryn Usselman in 1991.  Sylvester
Usselman did not come to America via Ellis Island but by way of Canada.  He
homesteaded his first parcel of 160 acres September 21, 1897 which was the
southeast quater of section 27 in township 123n Edmunds County, SD for 4
dollars.  He became an American citizen on September 11, 1897.
