Clemmons MI 24 Jul 2004Rose Wald, 93, of Clinton Township and formerly of Warren, died Wednesday, July 21, 2004, at The Romeo Continuing Care in Romeo.She was born April 23, 1911, in McHenry County, N.D., a daughter of Joseph and Regina (Schnider)Volk. In 1937 she married Harry Wald. Mrs. Wald was a member of St. Valerie of Ravena Catholic Church in Clinton Township.She is survived by five daughters, Yvonne (George) Hall, Joyce (Ron) Aprea, Rose Marie (Jim) Yount, Agatha (Roger) Reynolds and Marilyn (Michael) Haley; two brothers, Edward (Shirley) Wald and Jerome (Carmen) Wald; three sisters, Dorothy Wilden of Clinton Township, Regina (Mike) Binfet of Rugby, N.D., and Phillipine Schmidt of Bozeman, Mont.; a brother, Casmer (Betty) Volk of Rugby, N.D.; 14 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Harry; and four brothers, Anton, John, Pete, and Philip Volk.Services: Saturday, July 24, at St. Valerie of Ravena in Clinton Township. The Rev. Fr. Richard Cavellier officiated.Burial: Resurrection Cemetery, Clinton Township.

Schatz, 84, Velva, ND, died Saturday, June 7, 2014, at a Velva care center. Rose was born on July 4, 1929, in Ipswitch, SD, the daughter of Casper and Elizabeth (Kuntz) Volk. She grew up in Blumenfeld, ND, and attended Smokey Lake School through the 8th grade. As a young girl she helped out on many area farm homes as a baby sitter and hired hand. In 1942, she moved to Karlsruhe with her family. On September 30, 1947, she married Edmund Schatz. They lived on his family farm until 1964, when they moved to Butte, ND. Rose and her family operated Roseâs Café in butte for 7 years. In 1972, she went to work at the Butte School as a cook where she worked until 1987. Rose had many hobbies throughout the years. In earlier years Rose and Edmund enjoyed square dancing. She had a ceramic shop for many years, made numerous quilts for her children and grandchildren and enjoyed painting her wood crafts. Edmund enjoyed helping Rose with all her hobbies. In August of 1997, they moved to Velva. Rose joined the Velva Senior Citizens where she made many new friends and enjoyed playing cards. She volunteered numerous hours at the Souris Valley Care Center while Edmund and her mother were residents there. Rose entered Souris Valley Care Center on January 8, 2008. Rose enjoyed cooking and baking and was well known by many for all her good treats. She shared many recipes with friends and family. Many of the kids she cooked for in school came to see her long after they were out of school. They often reminded her of the good times they had while they were in school and the good food she made. She will be missed by all who knew her and her memory will live on in our hearts forever. Rose was a member of Saint Ceciliaâs Catholic Church, Christian Mothers, and the Velva Senior Citizens. Rose was a former member of Holy Ghost Catholic Church, Butte, Saint Josephâs Catholic Church, Balfour, 4-H Club Leader, Butte, 3-Bâs Square Dance Club, Balfour, Bergen and Butte and past PTA President for many years. Memorials are preferred to Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery or the Souris Valley Care Center. Survivors: sons, Terry (Becky) Schatz, Sturgis, SD, Tim (Dodie) Schatz, Butte, ND, Wayne (Kathy) Schatz, Butte and Vern Schatz, Bismarck; daughters, Sharon Schatz, Dallas, GA and Vicky (Jim) Edwards, Minot; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; brother, Joe (Judy)Volk, Honolulu, HI; sisters, Carol (Bill) Shuler, Great Falls, MT, Regina Dow, Springfield, OR and Angeline Power, Vacaville, CA; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
