Joe Vetter, 91, of Harvey, died Thursday, April 26, at the St. Aloisius Nursing Home of Harvey. Joe was born on January 1, 1916, near Selz. He was the son of Steve and Katherine (Weinger) Vetter. He grew up and attended country school near Selz. Joe married Katherine Kroll on June 14, 1937, in Anamoose. They lived and farm northwest of Selz. Katherine died on June 27, 2005. Joe had a love for farming, hunting, animals, gardening, card playing and his accordion. In his later years his grandchildren and great-grandchildren were a highlight in his life. Joe had a loving and caring heart for anyone who needed his help or a warm place to stay. He had a deep love for his religion and praying for anyone in need. Joe was a member of the St. AnthonyÃs Catholic Church of Selz, the Harvey Eagles Aerie and also served on the St. AnthonyÃs Cemetery Board. Joe is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Linda Vetter of Harvey; three daughters and sons-in-law, Sally and Francis Seefeld of Martin, Gladys and Linus Hager of Harvey, Darlene and Jerry Axtman of Harvey; seven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; one brother and sister-in-law, Ludwig and Lena Vetter of Harvey. Joe was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Katherine; brothers, Hans and Frank; and sisters, Eva Lesmeister and Barbara Burckhard.
