Salwei, 87, of Aberdeen will be from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. Monday, Jan. 18, 2010, at Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home, 1111 S. Main St., Aberdeen. Family will be present from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Aberdeen. Helen died Thursday, Jan. 14, 2010, at Aberdeen Health and Rehab, Aberdeen, S.D. Helen Barbara Fuhrmann was born on Dec. 6, 1922, to Pius and Teresa (Roth) Fuhrmann on the family homestead near Roscoe, S.D. Helen attended country schools in the area and helped her family on the farm. Helen married Paul Salwei on May 6, 1947, in Aberdeen, S.D. They lived in the Aberdeen area. Paul died on May 3, 1984, at Aberdeen. Helen enjoyed playing Bingo. Grateful for having shared Helen's life are her daughter, Teresa Knoll, of Warner, S.D.; two sons, James “Jim†(Sharon) Salwei, of Omaha, Neb., and Richard “Dick†Salwei, of Aberdeen, S.D.; one brother, Matt (LaVerne) Fuhrmann, of Aberdeen; two sisters, Lena Vogel, of Aberdeen and Anna Banik, of Spokane, Wash.; four half-sisters: Donna Grismer, of Hosmer, S.D., Luella (Albert) Hopfinger, of Aberdeen, Virginia Binfet, of Washington and Marcella Fuhrmann, of Aberdeen; four half-brothers: Ray (Angie) Fuhrmann, of California, James Fuhrmann, of Colorado, Kenny (Wanda) Fuhrmann, of Arizona and Ron (Ruby) Fuhrmann, of Arizona; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Paul; her parents, Pius and Teresa; one sister, Ramona; and an infant brother.
